Get Found via the Beekeeper Search Chat

In addition to the individual beekeeper page, there is a central public point of contact: bee-pilot.io Compass at compass.bee-pilot.io. If someone is looking for honey, they can ask there in their own words – “What beekeepers are in my area?“, “Who sells honey near me?” – and receive beekeeper pages in response. No registration required, accessible to everyone.

How to Appear There

Three things need to come together:

1. Your page is published and approved.
2. You have specified a region (in the module “My Colonies in Numbers”).
3. The switch Findable in Beekeeper Search Chat is on – located in the page panel under “Findability”.

The switch is independent of Google findability. You can appear in the search chat without being listed on Google – and vice versa.

What a Hit Looks Like

The chat displays you as a map with your SEO title, your description, and your header image – using the texts you have written yourself. Additionally, it includes the region and, if the visitor has shared their location, the distance in kilometers. A click opens your page in a new tab.

If you have enabled Show Map in Search Chat, the overview map of your region will be included. As everywhere, it shows a rough center point of the region, never a specific location.

First Come, First Served

If someone asks about their surroundings and has shared their location, the results are sorted by distance – the closest one first. If someone mentions a place or postal code, it searches within that region. There is no paid placement.

What the Chat Answers Otherwise

Besides the beekeeper search, it answers general questions about beekeeping, bees, and honey, and it can look up current topics – deadlines, regulations, appointments – online and link to the source. For images that a visitor submits, it provides factual information but explicitly does not make diagnoses.

Two limitations are firmly built in: It does not invent beekeepers – only pages that actually exist on bee-pilot.io are mentioned. And it never searches the web for beekeepers, ensuring that no businesses appear as hits that do not have a page there.

Marking and Binding Nature

The chat is permanently marked as AI Chat in the header area – no one should believe they are writing with a human. Below the input field, there is a note that responses may contain errors and are given without guarantee.

One important point for you as a beekeeper: the chat does not mention prices or make commitments in your name. Even if prices are listed on your page, it refers to the fact that you state this bindingly yourself and directs the interested party to your page or contact details. Thus, a chat response cannot become a statement by which you are measured.

What Happens to Visitor Data

The chat informs the visitor before the first question: question, answer, and IP address are stored to detect abuse, and deleted after 90 days. Photos are only evaluated for that one response and not stored. Those who do not agree cannot use the chat.

Also mentioned there: if an answer includes the region map of a beekeeper, the visitor’s browser loads this map image directly from Google Maps – the visitor’s IP address is then known to Google. Therefore, this is stated before the first question and not only in the privacy policy. If you do not want a map in chat hits, keep the switch Show Map in Search Chat off.

For you as a beekeeper, this means: you do not receive visitor data through the chat. You only find out that your page has been accessed – see the visitor numbers.
