Digitizing a paper checklist by photo

Some beekeepers prefer to fill in their checklist by hand on paper while working the colony. There’s a simple way to get those notes back into the app, too.

How to digitize your notes

On the checklist for the colony, tap the camera icon and photograph the filled-in paper sheet. The app analyzes the photo with AI and tries to automatically fill in the matching digital checkpoints — including checkboxes, traffic-light status, numbers, and notes.

Reviewing the result

Since automatic recognition isn’t always perfect, the app then shows you the result for review. Go through the recognized values, correct anything that doesn’t match, and only then confirm the inspection for that colony.

Combining paper and app

This feature pairs well with printing a blank checklist: print a blank checklist for a colony beforehand, fill it in by hand on paper while inspecting, and photograph the completed sheet afterwards to capture everything digitally. That way you can freely decide whether you’d rather work with the device in hand or with pen and paper.
