Starting and running an inspection

When you arrive at the apiary, you start the inspection for every colony at once from the apiary’s overview screen.

Getting started

On the apiary’s overview screen, tap Start inspection. The app begins an inspection round that covers every colony at the apiary, one after another.

Keeping track

During the inspection you can always see which colonies are already done and which are still pending. You move between colonies by swiping (or using the navigation) — each colony has its own checklist.

Filling in the checklist

Each checklist contains different types of fields:

  • checkboxes for simple yes/no points
  • a traffic-light rating (green/yellow/red) for the overall condition
  • a single-choice scale for graded observations
  • number fields, for example for counts
  • free text for individual notes
  • the colony’s current weight
  • a general notes field at the end

If everything looks normal for a colony, you don’t have to fill in every point one by one: tap All OK to set every point to its normal value at once.

Reporting a dead colony

If a colony has died, you can note this directly from its checklist. The colony is then marked as dead and removed from the rest of this inspection round.

Finishing the round

Once you’ve gone through every colony at the apiary, the app offers to finish the whole inspection round at once.
