Creating Custom Evaluation Fields
Under Settings → Configuration → Evaluation Labels, you can define extra data fields that bee-pilot.io doesn’t offer by default — for measurements you want to track yourself.
Two levels, up to 10 fields each
You create custom fields separately for two levels:
- Apiary level: fields that apply to the whole site.
- Colony level: fields that apply to a single colony.
You get up to 10 custom fields per level. Once created, they automatically appear in the relevant forms throughout the app.
Creating a field
For each field, you set:
- a label, shown everywhere in the app
- a unit, for example “kg” or “°C”
- a data type: whole number, decimal number, or text
Keep the label short and clear so it stays readable in overviews and reports too.
Saving automatically
Your entries are saved automatically as you type — there’s no separate save button.
When a field is linked to a device
Once a custom field is bound to a hardware device’s incoming data, it becomes locked and can no longer be deleted. This protects the data history flowing in through that device. If you still want to remove such a field, you first need to unlink it from the device.
