Creating a colony and assigning it to a hive stand
The easiest way to create a new colony is directly from an empty hive stand.
Creating a colony
Open your apiary’s overview and tap an empty hive stand. Select Create colony and give it a name. Then choose the colony’s properties:
- Hive type
- Colony characteristics
- Temperament
- Colony strength
You can customize and extend these selection lists yourself under Settings — that way the assessment stays tailored to your own beekeeping operation.
Health status
Every colony shows a traffic-light indicator for its health status (green, yellow, red), visible at a glance in the apiary overview.
Optional details
You can also record the frame count in the brood chamber and honey super if you’d like to track this data. These details are optional and can be added later at any time.
Where to find this in the app
Open an apiary via Home, tap a free hive stand, and select Create colony.
