Understanding a colony’s breeding values and rating

On every colony’s page, you’ll find a rating value that combines several criteria into a single figure.

How the value is calculated

The value typically ranges between 80 and 120 points and combines criteria such as temperament, colony strength, and yield. It’s shown to you as a simple chart, so you can see the trend over time at a glance.

Breed-worthy from 100 upward

If the value is above 100, the colony is marked as breed-worthy — an indication that this colony is particularly well suited for breeding offspring.

Comparing with other colonies

You can compare a colony’s value directly against the other colonies at the same apiary to see how it performs in relation to them.

Calendar year or beekeeping season

For the evaluation, you can choose between the full calendar year and the beekeeping season — the beekeeping period from roughly April to November.

Setting breeding objectives

Under Settings, you set your own breeding objectives, determining which criteria are weighted more heavily in the calculation.
