Marking a colony as dead or removing it

Not every colony survives the winter, and sometimes a colony gets merged with another one. For these cases, the Actions section of a colony offers an option to mark it as dead or inactive.

Marking a colony as dead

Open the colony in question, go to Actions, and select the corresponding option to mark it as dead or inactive — for example because it didn’t survive the winter or was merged into another colony.

What happens afterward

The colony remains in your history so you can still trace what happened to it later on. However, it no longer appears in your list of active colonies. The hive stand it last occupied is automatically freed up again and becomes available for a new colony.

Difference from deleting an apiary or hive stand

Marking a colony as dead is not the same as deleting an apiary or hive stand — the colony’s history remains fully intact; only its active status changes.

Where to find this in the app

Open a colony and tap the option to mark it as dead under Actions.
