3. Collection and Processing of Personal Data

  • Registration data (email address)
  • Usage data (IP addresses, device information, location data, usage statistics, log data)
  • Payment data via Stripe (stored directly there)
  • Location data of the apiaries
  • Photos for AI-supported analysis
  • Voice recordings for app control
  • Weather data for calculating the grassland temperature sum (GTS)

5. Third-Party Providers and Data Transfer

Auth0 (Login/Authentication)

We use the Auth0 service provided by Okta Inc., 100 First Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA for registration and user account management.

Login data (e.g., email address) is processed. Auth0 acts as a data processor according to Art. 28 GDPR. Data transfer to the USA is based on SCCs and, if applicable, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

DigitalOcean (Hosting)

Our systems run on servers of DigitalOcean LLC, 101 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10013, USA. Data processing takes place within the EU (e.g., Frankfurt), occasionally also in the USA – secured by SCCs or the Data Privacy Framework.

Google Fonts (only in the app)

Our app uses fonts from Google Fonts (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Integration only occurs after consent (agreement according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). Your IP address may be transmitted to Google.

OpenAI (AI Text Processing)

We use the services of OpenAI, L.L.C., 3180 18th St., San Francisco, CA 94110, USA for processing text inputs. Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR) or for the fulfillment of a contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR), secured by SCCs.

SendGrid (Email Delivery)

For sending system-relevant emails, we use SendGrid from Twilio Inc., 101 Spear Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Twilio acts as a data processor (Art. 28 GDPR), data transmission occurs according to SCCs.

Stripe (Payment Processing)

For payments, we use Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin, Ireland. During payment transactions, personal data is transmitted to Stripe (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR). Data transmission to third countries is based on SCCs.

Summary of External Service Providers

In short: It is important to us that you know that we work with partners in the EU and the USA to provide our service – for example, for hosting, email delivery, login, or payment processing.

Personal data may also be processed, e.g., email address, location data, or text inputs. All providers commit to complying with the GDPR – including via Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

If you still have concerns about the transmission of your data to third countries, you can avoid using it at any time. We respect that – even if we think it’s a pity.

6. Data Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability.

The data will be deleted within 14 days, provided there is no legal obligation to retain it. Warning: All content (e.g., apiary locations, notes) will also be irrevocably lost.

8. Storage Duration

We only store personal data for as long as it is necessary for the respective purpose or legally required.

We reserve the right to adjust this privacy policy at any time. We will actively inform our users of significant changes.
